If Her (2013) depicted love story between a human and AI software, Ex Machina (2015) portrays one between human and AI, with humanoid body. Ex Machina features Caleb, who discovers androids working in his CEO's private home and develop intimate relation with Ava. Ava is capable of not only making conversations but also evoking emotions out of Caleb. Caleb developed feeling for Ava despite knowing that she is a robot, due to her human-like appearance and physique. In Her (2013), there was limitation to the love between Samantha and Theodore because Samantha did not have a physical body. It is albeit different in Ex Machina. The movie, although fictional and very sci-fi, depicted the potentials in future with robots taking human shapes and eventually taking over human. Robots looked like "robots" in Will Smith's iRobots in 2004. The physique alone eliminates the wall between human and robot. With physical connection, robots are essentially another human beings.

I do not know if I would like such robots in the future. Having a robot working for me in a company, I imagine, would eliminate the various human dramas and chaos that happen among the employees. Robots can only focus on the task given without creating any drama. From company's perspective, that would be ideal as work efficiency is maximized. However, I do not want that. Working place is already deemed negatively and non-humanly in the eyes of many employees and these robots would worsen that. Even if robots were to take over the world in the future, I would still love to retain the 'human' part till my death.
